Hello!

Hello! I’m Laura, farmer at L Spring. My farming journey has been fairly non-linear: uprooting, moving and evolving along the way. I am incredibly thankful for the massive support I’ve received along the way which helped land me at my current station here on Sauvie Island.

I’ve alway been an avid backyard grower but made the farm leap in Summer 2015 with an internship at Zenger Farm in SE Portland. From there, I moved to an urban farmstead in the Cully Neighborhood where I grew for a mixed veggie CSA for three seasons. After a bit of a detour I found myself with an incredible opportunity to live on a shared 5 acre parcel on Sauvie Island. Thinking I would just continue with growing vegetables, I opened up a few rows and planted annual crops home garden style. However, I soon discovered the amazing world of flowers and expanded out to 1/4 acre, which for a one-woman show, is plenty.

Although it’s taken me a minute to get here - I’ve really begin to understand the magic of flowers. To be working in such a beautiful space and then to share it with others really brings me such great joy.

L Spring’s growing practices are organically focused. Sources for amendments, seed/tuber/plants, pest control and compost strive to be as local and carefully thought out as possible. I am gentle with the land and prioritize support of native flora and fauna.

I’d love to grow you some flowers - offerings this season include a bouquet CSA, DIY event buckets, floral support for photo productions and businesses, specialty crop U-pick (sweet peas!) and tomato/pepper starts.
